The Wolfe Gang

  • Live At Ted's 2 Castle Street Wilmington United States (map)

MICHAEL WOLFE grew up in a family of professional artists listening to classical music on records, (yes, vinyl!) and hearing folk songs sung by his father, who was a gifted singer as well as as a painter. In high school he started listening to jazz, mainly Monk, Mingus, and Brubeck. In college he was introduced to blues by a friend. After learning guitar, he listened to all kinds of music but was consistently attracted to blues, R&B, soul, rock, reggae, jazz, swing, funk, zydeco, together with a sprinkling of country, bluegrass, and old-time music. He agrees with Duke Ellington: "If it sounds good, it IS good." (He doesn't think rap, metal, punk, or disco SOUND good!) Michael started playing in bands in the funky bars, nightclubs, roadhouses, and juke joints of South Louisiana, and the bayou feel has remained in his music.

Band Members: GENO CARMEN is a veteran drummer from Wilmington who has played with many different musicians in the area. He is a powerful, dynamic master drummer and rock solid timekeeper who has a comprehensive feel for music because he also plays guitar and keyboards. Geno and... ROB HARRINGTON, our bass player, have known each other since the fifth grade, and have played music together for practically that long, so it has long since become second nature for them to lock in on a groove!

Doors open at 6pm, $7 cash cover.
