In the summer of 2018, songwriter James Davy left his home in Raleigh, North Carolina searching for something more — what for — he still isn’t exactly sure. James traveled through the plains of Oklahoma, up the Pacific coast, and eventually into the dense woods of the Northwest. As he traversed new landscape - of both country and mind – he was searching for “it” while feeling — lost, then found, then lost again.
After months on the road, James realized a personal truth: maybe the answer is not something you simply find, but perhaps something that finds you... like a song perhaps finds the writer. In his song, Personal Archelogy, James tells the story of finding shards of pottery that leads to an awakening “over time, piece by piece, slowly revealing the whole…like broken shards and punctured tires.” In another song, Diner Dawn, James’ lyrics haunt; “In a cloud, a lover’s eye, the golden glow of a diner dawn… the universe in a coffee cup, answers appear in a cream swirl… along a pawn dogs yarn.” Tales unravel, and leave you wanting more of “it”.
Armed with these new songs, stories, and a road-worn heart, James returned to the American South, stopping in Nashville, TN, where he decided to stay. Finding refuge in an old guitar player’s attic, James is currently writing and performing songs in prep for his solo debut.
James also fronts the North Carolina based Brothers Egg.
