Doors open at 7pm, show 8-10pm. Tickets are $20 + fees. Fans have loved Welling’s music from the inception and it’s clear to see why. Her bold, sultry voice, reminiscent of Sheryl Crow’s grit, Tom Petty’s pen, and Stevie Nicks’ heart, is upstaged only by the genuine love and connection this natural performer has with her fans both on and off stage. Welling’s latest album, Crack in the Chaos, invites listeners on a journey to search for the joy in the turmoil, a testament to the belief that even in the darkest times, there is always a glimmer of light to guide us. Each track is a reminder that the struggle itself is a part of that journey. In each “crack” we find confidence and hope - the energy that drives us. Melodies rich in Americana pop blend seamlessly with her singer-songwriter roots and empowered, honest lyrics. But while this new collection of songs maintain Welling’s signature raw vulnerability and authenticity - qualities that are essential to her creative process - fans will certainly take note of a more mature and evolved sound. Fans are not the only ones who have seen Carrie for the brilliant artist she is. From touring with Delta Rae, Wyn Starks, Carbon Leaf, David Cook and Bowen Young to singing on the Melissa Etheridge Cruise and Sail Across the Sun Cruise with Train, Welling’s voice shines boldly and brightly the moment she takes the stage. Whether performing in The Netherlands and Germany, headlining Norwegian Cruises and the Meeting of the Minds Festival, or dazzling crowds at the Songwriter Island Showcase in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, Carrie Welling shows no signs of stopping.
Doors open at 7pm, show 8-10pm. Tickets are $15 + fees. Based in coastal North Carolina, Jim Ellis is a pianist, singer, and songwriter whose sound blends folk, rock, pop, and country with the ease of a perfect day by the water. Influenced by storytellers like Jackson Browne and James Taylor, Jim’s songs favor warm, conversational lyrics and melodies that stay with you. Live, his piano playing adds a joyful New Orleans lift, often compared to “Bruce Hornsby with second line energy,” and a touch of blues. Jim has been writing, performing, and recording for over four decades. Earlier in his career, his band Waterline released Long Goners, featuring Sonny Landreth with The Goners, the band known for backing John Hiatt. Landreth’s iconic slide work, heard with artists including Jimmy Buffett and Dolly Parton, helped shape the album’s rootsy, open-road sound. As a solo artist, Jim leans into storytelling that feels personal but universal. His 4-song EP Lucky Enough is a breezy, gratitude-soaked collection about love, simple pleasures, and finding peace in the life right in front of you. He followed it with Can’t Keep Quiet Today, a piano-driven EP steeped in second line rhythm and New Orleans color. Most recently, he released Forgotten How to Fly, a grittier set of songs about bruised confidence, hard lessons, and the work of starting over. Arguably one of the three most influential kazoo players in the history of Western music, Doug McFarland inarguably is a singer and guitarist as well. He is known far and wide for acoustic awesomeness, sincere (occasionally clever) songwriting and funny Photoshop skills. Book him at your local establishment, you’ll enjoy his prompt, courteous service and entertaining live shows that feature a nice variety of music and just the right amount of witty banter. Doug Video: https://youtu.be/lYnb5d8TAB4?si=hVb5VsJIhdh9zys1 Doug Website: https://www.thedougmcfarlandone.com/ Jim Video: https://youtu.be/uw1yruq3Wgc?si=SitQbYtUFlBCBUqS Jim Website: http://ellissongs.com

Doors open at 7pm, show 8-10pm. Tickets are $15 + fees. Join us for a special evening of homegrown music from two of Wilmington's most prolific songwriters. Jeff Reid and Catesby Jones first met in the summer of 1983 where they traded original songs in a bungalow on the south-end of Wrightsville Beach, NC. Despite travelling different roads since that fateful day, they reconnected back in Wilmington in 1996, where over the years Reid has produced seven of Catesby’s CD’s and together they have shared the stage in countless performances.. Catesby Jones was born in Versailles, Kentucky and raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio. As a young man, he began writing original compositions, playing in folk clubs in Boston, and touring on the fabled New York college coffeehouse circuit. He has held steady gigs in Cleveland, the Virgin Islands, a Kingsville, Texas honky tonk, the Rum Boogie Café in Memphis, and The Bluebird Café in Nashville. He won the Kerrville New Folk Competition in 1982 and, as a staff writer in Nashville, co-wrote Travis Tritt's breakout hit 'Country Club'. In 1993, he moved to Wilmington, NC where he has performed extensively and continues to pursue his songwriting career. Songwriter, producer and publisher Jeff Reid was born in New Orleans and raised in Wilmington, NC. He began performing in the Wilmington area in 1981 and has since travelled throughout the United States performing his original music. He has played hundreds of club dates, either backing others or performing solo and has engineered and/or produced CDs for many local and regional artists. From 2006 - 2011, Jeff was the publisher and editor of Wilmington's’ monthly music magazine The Beat. Illustrated otherwise, they are a catalog of human emotion punctuated by visions of a man taking responsibility for what is his. Altman’s songs are vast – in sonic dimension and lyrical aptitude. Without a doubt, Altman has a grasp on that mysterious place where the words and music intersect. At once earnest in that ultra-human pursuit of making things right – and making an attempt at anything honest, The Paper Stars is a collection of sounds and stories; perfunctory calls to everything elevated. Both transcendent and secular. Altman’s lyrics wind through western canyons of love lost and every dawn of solace washed in bright lights. -Denver Syntax This is a very special solo show with Tres. Les Fontanelles of Wilmington, NC, have deep roots in the North Carolina coast, which probably explains their mixture of sweet, but salty sensibilities. Their style and harmony driven sound can be attributed to the influences of Townes Van Zandt, Dire Straits, The Byrds, and Blaze Foley, then rounded out with undercurrents of Bonnie Prince Billy, Mazzy Star, and Magnolia Electric Co. The music is made with the belief that life is filled with heartache, but laughter and love is what makes the journey beautiful. It's the perfect balance between "supper at grandma's" and "put the youngins to bed, so grown folks can visit." Be prepared to cry, cackle, and blush before it's all said and done. The five-piece folk group is comprised of members of Wilmington's No Dollar $hoes (Carson Jewell, Jesse Jewell, Richard Welsh), Masonboro Sound (Shane Lippard), and The Barnraisers (Tiff Reece Jewell). Tickets are $40 + fees. Full Cord formed in 2008 in Grand Haven, Michigan, and their name comes from a perfectly on-brand moment: at one of their early gigs, Eric (guitar & also a sawyer) noticed their instruments stacked in a corner and said it looked like a “full cord of wood.” The phrase stuck and so did the band’s reputation for bringing heat, whether it’s a listening room set, a packed theater, or a festival main stage. Their breakout year came in 2022. First, Full Cord won the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Contest, a stage tested proving ground with a track record of identifying tomorrow’s headliners. Then, the International Bluegrass Music Association named them Momentum Band of the Year, recognizing the band’s combination of performance power, songwriting, and forward drive. The band’s recorded catalog tells the same story: roots forward, creatively restless, and built to be played live. Early releases Choreomania (2019) and Hindsight (2021) established their voice, and their Dark Shadow era has amplified it. Signed by Dark Shadow Recording, Full Cord has been praised by the label for “great songwriting, tight picking, and excellent vocals,” a clean summary of what audiences hear within the first song or two. Their Dark Shadow album Cambium arrived in November 2023, following singles that earned strong radio attention and chart activity. Musically, Full Cord is bluegrass at the core, with the confidence to let other colors seep in touches of jazz, western swing, and rock ’n’ roll attitude without ever losing the drive and clarity that make bluegrass hit so hard. At the center are Brian Oberlin (mandolin/vocals), Eric Langejans (guitar/vocals), and Todd Kirchner (bass), musicians with deep experience and a shared sense of timing that makes their grooves feel inevitable. Full Cord often expands into a powerful five-piece onstage with elite banjo and fiddle firepower; recent performances and tours have featured award winning banjoist Max Allard and Chase Potter on fiddle, and the band’s broader lineup history includes notable collaborators in the banjo and fiddle chairs. The result is a show that’s high energy, harmony rich, and built around songs that stick whether you came for traditional bluegrass, progressive edges, or simply the thrill of a band that knows exactly how to lift a room. Luke Bulla has been singing and playing music most of his life. Touring with and singing in his family band from age four, Luke took up the fiddle at seven. Over the course of the next few years, he won the National Fiddle Contest (in Weiser, Idaho) six times in his respective age categories. His seventh win came in the Grand Champion division at age sixteen, making him the youngest to have earned the title at the time. Entering Nashville’s Grand Master Fiddle Championship at age ten, Luke distinguished himself by being the youngest person to have made the top ten. In addition to violin, Luke plays guitar and mandolin, and sings and writes songs. In the spring of 1999, Luke moved to Nashville to establish himself as a full time musician. He spent his early years in Tennessee playing fiddle in Ricky Skaggs’ band, Kentucky Thunder, which earned him his first Grammy Award. Following the Skaggs stint, he became a member of the John Cowan Band. More recently Luke has performed and/or recorded with Brandi Carlile, Jim Lauderdale, Darrell Scott, Alison Krauss, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, Edgar Meyer, Bela Fleck, Bryan Sutton, Kevin Costner & Modern West, Russ Barenberg Trio, Shawn Colvin, Tony Rice, Chris Thile, Peter Rowan, Patty Griffin, Glen Phillips, Rodney Crowell, and Earl Scruggs, to name a few. Luke was also a perennial instructor at Mark O’Connor’s fiddle camps in his early Nashville years. With his long-time friend Casey Driessen, Luke founded the band Wisechild, which toured briefly with John Mayer and Counting Crows. He also had a band collaboration, W.P.A. (Works Progress Administration), which included members Sean Watkins (Nickel Creek, Fiction Family), Glen Phillips (Toad The Wet Sprocket), Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek, I’m With Her), Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello and the Imposters, The Attractions, Los Lobos), Greg Leisz (Joni Mitchell, Wilco, Sheryl Crow, Beck), and Davey Faragher (Elvis Costello and the Imposters, Cracker). In 2009, Luke released a solo EP featuring Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Aoife O’Donovan and more. That same year, Lyle Lovett asked Luke to join his Large Band, with whom he toured full time until 2023. In 2015 Luke co-founded a Bluegrass/Americana record label, Pure Music | Nashville, with music and business executive John L. Heithaus. Luke’s LP, Who Loves You Better, was released by the label in May of 2016. He’s a weaver of tales, capturing the essence of human experience in every note and lyric. Chris Stapleton calls him “a modern Townes Van Zandt.” Lewis’s voice, often likened to molasses dripping from a Southern porch, carries a soulful weight that transcends genre. His music is a gumbo of feel-good grooves and vital social commentary. It is a testament to years spent honing his craft on the red dirt roads of the American Southeast. Read Sam’s biography to learn more about this soulful storyteller weaving tales of humanity. Nashville became his home in 2009. Since then, his musical family has included some of the industry’s finest. His discography, like a treasured anthology, reveals his artistic evolution. These include his self-titled debut (2012), and “Waiting On You,” co-produced with Oliver Wood, a masterclass in soulful expression. The introspective “Loversity” came out in 2018, and the stripped-down intimacy of “Solo” arrived in 2020. Each album, co-produced by legends like Oliver Wood (The Wood Brothers) and graced by the talents of music royalty like Mickey Raphael (Willie Nelson), Darrell Scott (Robert Plant), and the McCrary Sisters, has garnered critical acclaim, showcasing Lewis’ unyielding commitment to raw songwriting. Rolling Stone included Lewis in their “10 New Artists to Watch” list for “Loversity,” an album Marissa Moss described as “seventies psychedelic soul with a storyteller’s eye, a swampy Southern groove, and an emotional, political punch.” Lewis’ band featured a star-packed rhythm section, including JT Cure and Derek Mixon (Chris Stapleton), as well as guitarists Kenny Vaughan (Marty Stuart) and Dan Cohen (Bruce Hornsby). They provide the bedrock for his sonic explorations, ensuring each album is a journey into the heart of Americana. Raised in a musical family steeped in the mountain culture of the region, Keel began from an early age to forge a distinctive sound, taking bluegrass and classic country music and infusing those styles with a rock edge and elements of improvisational jazz. The Larry Keel Duo, consisting of Larry Keel on acoustic guitar and Winston Mitchell on mandolin and acoustic guitar, are masters of their instruments, drawing heavily from Keel’s catalog of original music and imaginative interpretations of choice covers. Winston's love for music started with his dad who was a skilled guitarist, singer, songwriter, and pedal steel player. Playing mostly electric guitar until his early-20s, he was introduced to the music of Jeff Austin and Yonder Mountain String Band and was immediately captivated by the energy and improvisation coming off of a pile of acoustic bootleg CDs. After playing guitar in several bands he decided to try out mandolin and immediately was hooked. With his strongest inspirations deriving from Jeff & Sam Bush’s playing, he worked his way backwards through time to get to the origins of bluegrass. One listener likened the experience of watching this act to being backstage while the artists are running tunes, relaxed yet energized, nailing songs while taking musical risks and letting it all hang out. That’s the vibe they bring to the stage, inviting listeners to have fun and be part of the creative process happening before their very eyes and ears.
Doors open at 7pm, show 8-10pm. Tickets are $12 + fees. **This show originally scheduled for June 5th is now October 3rd. After five years of growth as a musician & father, Sean Thomas Gerard is back with Stay In Your Light. Gerard, who records in a humble corner of his family's garage that doubles as a playroom for his two daughters, shares “I think about some day when I'm gone, my kids will be able to put on my records and feel like they can spend time with me again” about his music. The artist’s take on the indie-folk sound is refreshing & personal. Stay In Your Light is a comforting symphonic hug that aims to preserve the innocence of those Gerard holds dearest. The family focused theme of Stay In Your Light is cohesive throughout, both sonically and lyrically. Gerard blends thoughtful lyrics with beautifully hazy instrumentation. The lead single, “Bright Side,” notably exemplifies these qualities with lines such as: “I knew then we were all, all in / I couldn't plan it better than this again.” The multilayered production of the song takes the listener on a sonic cruise. In an era starved for genuine warmth and intimacy, this record feels like a luminous embrace. Profoundly moving, endlessly replayable, and destined to become a cherished soundtrack for life's most tender moments.Every sound on this album finds a home where they play in mass harmony, tucked in with great care by Gerard himself. This creates a seamless listening experience that immerses the universe in the artist’s vision. Stay In Your Light is an intimate glance into the artist’s psyche & his absolute affection for his daughters and family. Not a second of the listeners’ time is wasted throughout the half an hour of indie bliss. Soul-R Fusion is an acoustic guitar and fretless bass songwriter duo that will draw you in and take you on a mystic musical journey. Tim Koehler (acoustic guitar / vocals) and Alex Goodell (fretless bass) are both originally from New Jersey, but met by chance in Wilmington, North Carolina in 2015. When they collaborated things really clicked, and they developed an original sound by blending diverse musical influences and unique approaches to their instruments and to songwriting. Tim began playing guitar in his early teens and is largely self-taught. He was the lead guitarist and frontperson for several New Jersey based bands. Then, with a switch from electric to acoustic, Tim went solo, playing acoustic guitar in the Red Bank, NJ music scene and occasionally dipping into the crowded Greenwich Village folk scene. After several relocations, he ended up in Wilmington, NC, where he frequented open-mics and gigged as a solo singer-songwriter. Tim’s "superpower" has always been his ability to get to the emotional center of a song. His thoughtfully crafted lyrics relate stories, experiences, and emotions that he brings to life with his rich, soulful vocals. Alex played classical violin throughout her childhood. She started playing bass as a teenager and is a graduate of the bass guitar program at Musicians Institute in California. She has played with a variety of bands on the east and west coasts, performing a range of genres including rock power trio, Elvis tribute, county-rock, funk-soul, surf, retro-instrumental mash-up, and jam band. Alex’s melodic bass playing highlights the magical qualities of the fretless bass. This complementary combination led to the formation of Soul-R Fusion, and the duo became partners in music and life. Soul-R Fusion features the interplay between Tim’s intelligent, heartfelt lyrics, and Alex’s ethereal fretless basslines. Their songs are optimistic and reflect upon the common experiences and connections people share. Soul-R Fusion has a large repertoire of original music including three studio album recordings: their eponymous Soul-R Fusion, (2016) with drummer Roger Manning, a double CD Like a Circle ‘Round the Sun, (2019), and Everybody Knows, (2023). They are constantly writing new music and are currently working on new studio recordings. The duo recently relocated to Kenansville, NC, but they still perform regularly at Wilmington listening room, Live at Ted’s, and at the Beale Street Barber Shop, Wilmington NC's Elvis themed barber shop / original music venue. They are members of the North Carolina Songwriter’s Co-op, and perform locally, regionally and nationally, in original-music friendly venues, showcases, events, and festivals, and for live radio / streaming broadcasts. Video: https://youtu.be/9t21jV7UQWA?si=ZWTG8wPYbgw2wj4Z Website: https://soulrfusion.com/home
