Intimate. SolTree Reign isn’t just a band—it’s a movement. A hypnotic fusion of poetry, music, and activism, we don’t just perform; we awaken, stir, and ignite. Our sound is raw emotion, our rhythm is resistance, and our message is truth. At the helm is the magnetic Mahlaynee—vocalist, poet, and lyricist—leading a powerhouse of musicians who turn sound into storytelling. Royce Williams commands the keys with soulful precision, and Mike Hanson, an original Last Poet and Master Conga Percussionist, sets the pulse on fire. Junious Fulton locks in the groove on drums, while Robert Bellamy, known as ScaleHamHawk Da Poet, weaves spoken word into the flames of rhythm. SolTree Reign isn’t just music—it’s movement and magic. We stand at the crossroads of art and revolution, fusing melody and message to inspire, challenge, and heal. Our sound bridges the ancestors and the future, vibrating with the urgency of change and the richness of Black artistry. We've left our imprint on some of the most revered stages: the grandeur of Thalian Hall, the soul of the NAACP Banquet, the historic resonance of the Cameron Art Museum, and the electric energy of The Wilson Center. We've captivated audiences in the intimate, spellbinding space of Live at Ted’s, crafting experiences where every note lingers and every word resonates. And across a variety of Wilmington’s most dynamic venues, we continue to set the stage on fire.
Doors open at 7pm, show 8-10pm. Tickets are $12 + fees. After five years of growth as a musician and father, Sean Thomas Gerard is back with Stay In Your Light. Gerard, who records in a humble corner of his family's garage that doubles as a playroom for his two daughters, shares “I think about some day when I'm gone, my kids will be able to put on my records and feel like they can spend time with me again” about his music. The artist’s take on the indie-folk sound is refreshing and personal. Stay In Your Light is a comforting symphonic hug that aims to preserve the innocence of those Gerard holds dearest. The family focused theme of Stay In Your Light is cohesive throughout, both sonically and lyrically. Gerard blends thoughtful lyrics with beautifully hazy instrumentation. The lead single, “Bright Side,” notably exemplifies these qualities with lines such as: “I knew then we were all, all in / I couldn't plan it better than this again.” The multilayered production of the song takes the listener on a sonic cruise. In an era starved for genuine warmth and intimacy, this record feels like a luminous embrace. Profoundly moving, endlessly replayable, and destined to become a cherished soundtrack for life's most tender moments.Every sound on this album finds a home where they play in mass harmony, tucked in with great care by Gerard himself. This creates a seamless listening experience that immerses the universe in the artist’s vision. Stay In Your Light is an intimate glance into the artist’s psyche and his absolute affection for his daughters and family. Not a second of the listeners’ time is wasted throughout the half an hour of indie bliss. Recordings: https://seanthomasgerard.bandcamp.com/ Wilmington, NC songwriter David Dixon continues to balance live performances with recording new music, following the recent release of his debut book, The Musician’s Gold Mine.
Doors open at 7pm, show 8-10pm. Tickets are $20 + fees. Two internationally touring folk/Americana duos, The Rough & Tumble and Flagship Romance combine for a night of high energy, four part harmonies, infectious hooks and a roomful of laughter. It took over 10 years and 500,000 miles of touring the indie/folk circuit and seeing each other’s posters on venue walls before the two bands met. But it only took one meeting before they’d started a text thread and concocted the idea of the Rough Romance tour. It’s a night of open-armed, deep-in-the-belly-songs that are as intimate as they are universal and as delightful as your first cup of coffee. It’s a jubilant show that has become the highlight of the year for many people to watch these four accomplished musicians and friends share the stage. Flagship Romance is an unforgettable alternative folk duo known for their breathtaking vocal harmonies, inspired songwriting, dynamic live show, and a remarkable on and off-stage chemistry that will leave you with the feeling that you made two new best friends. Married singers-songwriters Shawn Fisher and Jordyn Jackson effortlessly fuse technical precision in their impeccably tight vocal blend with an invigorating sense of emotional abandon in their energetic live persona. Performing each show as if it could be their last, this duo will have you questioning how their larger-than-life sound can come from just two voices and an acoustic guitar. The Rough & Tumble are a hardscrabble folk/Americana duo, made up of Mallory Graham and Scott Tyler. With accordions and guitars, close-harmonies, ukuleles and oddball percussion, their commanding stage presence and engaging performances have made them a not-to-miss band when they tour through town because you won’t see the same show twice. They have been embraced by fans for their stark honesty, unique storytelling and well-crafted melodies especially after 2024’s release, Hymns For My Atheist Sister and Her Friends To Sing Along To, a collection of deeply personal, unifying and uplifting, humanist gospel songs. Led by multi-instrumentalists and award winning songwriters Clint Roberts and Jackson Grimm, Asheville’s Holler Choir blends a distinctly Appalachian indie-pop sound with haunting harmonies, stirring string arrangements, and heart-wrenching ballads—yet rarely conforms to a single genre. Rooted in Old-time, Americana, and Bluegrass traditions, Holler Choir’s sound is ultimately singular by design. Alongside Roberts and Grimm, a rotating cast of gifted Appalachian musicians contributes to the group’s recordings and electrifying live performances. Holler Choir began during the recording of Roberts’s 2022 solo EP, Mountain Air, at Asheville’s Crossroads Studios. That fortuitous gathering of roots musicians proved to be the genesis of an unmistakable new sound. Produced by Grammy Award–winning multi-instrumentalist Michael Ashworth of The Steep Canyon Rangers, the five-song EP lit the fuse, setting Holler Choir on a path to delight audiences throughout the Southeast and beyond. Much of that same collective reunited to record the band’s 2024 debut full-length album, Songs Before They Write Themselves, tracked in the historic church room at Echo Mountain Studios and engineered by Jason Richmond (Avett Brothers, Rising Appalachia). Grimm officially joined the fold in the summer of 2024 after being invited to collaborate on Holler Choir’s Susto Stringband project, which reinterprets the indie-rock Americana songwriting of Susto’s Justin Osborne through old-time and bluegrass lenses. As Roberts and Grimm continued working together, Grimm’s sharp lyrical wit and wide-ranging multi-instrumentalism quickly proved to be a powerful addition to the band’s creative core. Holler Choir is slated to release its first collaborative record under this lineup in late 2026 or early 2027. Soul-R Fusion is an acoustic guitar and fretless bass songwriter duo that will draw you in and take you on a mystic musical journey. Tim Koehler (acoustic guitar / vocals) and Alex Goodell (fretless bass) are both originally from New Jersey, but met by chance in Wilmington, North Carolina in 2015. When they collaborated things really clicked, and they developed an original sound by blending diverse musical influences and unique approaches to their instruments and to songwriting. Tim began playing guitar in his early teens and is largely self-taught. He was the lead guitarist and frontperson for several New Jersey based bands. Then, with a switch from electric to acoustic, Tim went solo, playing acoustic guitar in the Red Bank, NJ music scene and occasionally dipping into the crowded Greenwich Village folk scene. After several relocations, he ended up in Wilmington, NC, where he frequented open-mics and gigged as a solo singer-songwriter. Tim’s "superpower" has always been his ability to get to the emotional center of a song. His thoughtfully crafted lyrics relate stories, experiences, and emotions that he brings to life with his rich, soulful vocals. Alex played classical violin throughout her childhood. She started playing bass as a teenager and is a graduate of the bass guitar program at Musicians Institute in California. She has played with a variety of bands on the east and west coasts, performing a range of genres including rock power trio, Elvis tribute, county-rock, funk-soul, surf, retro-instrumental mash-up, and jam band. Alex’s melodic bass playing highlights the magical qualities of the fretless bass. This complementary combination led to the formation of Soul-R Fusion, and the duo became partners in music and life. Soul-R Fusion features the interplay between Tim’s intelligent, heartfelt lyrics, and Alex’s ethereal fretless basslines. Their songs are optimistic and reflect upon the common experiences and connections people share. Soul-R Fusion has a large repertoire of original music including three studio album recordings: their eponymous Soul-R Fusion, (2016) with drummer Roger Manning, a double CD Like a Circle ‘Round the Sun, (2019), and Everybody Knows, (2023). They are constantly writing new music and are currently working on new studio recordings. The duo recently relocated to Kenansville, NC, but they still perform regularly at Wilmington listening room, Live at Ted’s, and at the Beale Street Barber Shop, Wilmington NC's Elvis themed barber shop / original music venue. They are members of the North Carolina Songwriter’s Co-op, and perform locally, regionally and nationally, in original-music friendly venues, showcases, events, and festivals, and for live radio / streaming broadcasts. Video: https://youtu.be/C1zI7P_foI4?si=gxsrs-Jo72dFxllM Website: https://soulrfusion.com/home

The character Tom Sawyer evokes the rural background and love of home that the band shares. Time is a muse for songwriting; it’s the thread that runs through life, bringing new experiences and giving us a sense of urgency, while still connecting us with our past. The folk-rock band has performed on the stages of some of the Southeast’s most iconic festivals, including Merlefest, Floydfest, Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion, Albino Skunk Music Festival, and Carolina in the Fall. They’ve shared bills with American Aquarium, John Craigie, Hiss Golden Messenger, Langhorne Slim, John Moreland, Steep Canyon Rangers, The Wood Brothers, Susto, and many more. In March 2020 the band started a variety livestream called “Sam on Sunday.” The show originated out of necessity, as the pause button was hit for live shows, but quickly, connecting with friends, family, and fans each week became just as important. As live music returned, the project transformed into “Sam on Someday,” bringing together guest artists of widely varying genres to create memorable, one-time-only collaborative experiences. Time Sawyer’s songs call out the attitudes and behaviors that lead to our divisions – the way that we show understanding to our friends and family, without thinking about how folks outside our social circle are experiencing their own problems, and are, at heart, just like us. The music does what might seem impossible. It holds listeners accountable, but at the same time, draws them in and makes them feel good about what we all have in common. One of Time Sawyer’s goals has always been for listeners to feel a sense of community and connection during the show, and then to keep it with them, long after the music ends. Written by Jody Mace Website: https://www.timesawyer.com/ Video: https://youtu.be/wnqcrrXKHt0?si=jp7SEqSObCi2z1Md

Les Fontanelles of Wilmington, NC, have deep roots in the North Carolina coast, which probably explains their mixture of sweet, but salty sensibilities. Their style and harmony driven sound can be attributed to the influences of Townes Van Zandt, Dire Straits, The Byrds, and Blaze Foley, then rounded out with undercurrents of Bonnie Prince Billy, Mazzy Star, and Magnolia Electric Co. The music is made with the belief that life is filled with heartache, but laughter and love is what makes the journey beautiful. It's the perfect balance between "supper at grandma's" and "put the youngins to bed, so grown folks can visit." Be prepared to cry, cackle, and blush before it's all said and done. The five-piece folk group is comprised of members of Wilmington's No Dollar $hoes (Carson Jewell, Jesse Jewell, Richard Welsh), Masonboro Sound (Shane Lippard), and The Barnraisers (Tiff Reece Jewell). He grew up on barbecue, chili dogs, Brunswick stew and Elvis. Skinny belts and two tones were replaced in 1964 with Chelsea boots, Cuban heels and long hair thanks to the Beatles. Joe got his first guitar when his mom Betty purchased a Stella at the local pawn shop when he was thirteen. One morning Joe's dad JM called him to the TV to see a blind guitar player on a local channel in Raleigh, North Carolina. The man's name was Doc Watson. Little did either one of them know that years down the road Joe would have the honor of becoming a member of Doc and Merle Watson's band Frosty Morn. Years of touring and more than a dozen albums with Doc, forged a relationship of deep respect. Joe has performed at every Merle Fest (26) and was also asked to be a performer at Doc's funeral. Joe also toured extensively with Jack Lawrence. Their duo was Smothers and Lawrence. They recorded an album called Smothers and Lawrence. Joe chose to stop touring to help raise his son and daughter. He continued to to play in a favorite local band while working as a sales representative for an international casket company. With the children grown, Joe is again writing and touring in earnest. He recently completed his first CD called These Things I Know. One of the cuts is a song called The Three Buglers. It is a mix of fiction and historical facts on how Taps was written. Joe performed it at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas in 2007. He received a first place for this song. Joe's voice is strong and pure. His guitar playing is solid. His mastery in song writing keeps your attention from beginning to end. Today Joe teaches guitar, and tours. He splits his time between homes in Valdosta, Georgia and Cortez, Florida with his wife Marghy. Video: https://youtu.be/vP7h2Iq91GM?si=3QTE-o3xbOuKMYeR&t=77
